Findings:

1. Children cannot see some optical illusions

  •  Children are unable to use perception when considering depth, this is also known as centration.

 

 

 

Upon comparison, when asked which beaker has more liquid than the other: the slim, taller beaker or the short, wider beaker.

 

 

 

 


 

 

Children will pick the taller beaker because they will not understand depth until around age 8. They do not know they both possess the same amount of liquid.

Similarly, infants and babies have little to no perception of structures or depth. This is called a Visual Cliff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You can see that most babies are not afriad to move over the edge as there is no cliff or drop to them.
